I was born and raised in Lancaster County. There’s so much to love about Lancaster! I grew up in a rural area outside of Millersville, sledding in the cornfields, shelling lima beans grown in my grandfather’s garden, and eating strawberry shortcake and apple dumplings for supper. At age 21, I married my high school sweetheart, and by age 24 we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Three years later, “The Boy” as we affectionately called him, joined our family. He was our bundle of fun from day one!

I started my real estate career working for 5 years as an administrative assistant with a local appraiser. I still have a direct hotline into his office for advice on unique properties! When I made the decision to re-enter the workplace outside of home after being home with our children and providing in-home childcare services for the next 10 years, I did so through social services. I spent 9 years, 3 of those last years as the program coordinator, working one on one with at-risk families in their home environment teaching, encouraging, supporting and mentoring. While extremely challenging at times, the rewards from making personal connections with the families & individuals I worked with, were far greater. It was not uncommon to hear, “You are the first person who’s ever treated me (or my kids) with respect.” It was through my work with these families that I came across and later adopted the tagline “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Along with organizational changes to the structure of the program I worked with, came the opportunity to take the transferable skills I had acquired (communication, teaching, knowledge of community resources, problem-solving, mentoring, leadership) and re-engage with real estate. At first glance, social services and real estate may seem like two different worlds. But quite the contrary; both professions are about walking WITH people through a journey of change. I enjoy having the opportunity to walk alongside my real estate clients, assisting and encouraging them throughout the home buying or selling process.

I started it 11 years ago, when I made the personal decision that I wanted my work to have purpose, and that purpose had to be centered around connecting individually with people. Because people, all of us working together, living together, playing together, and supporting each other together, is what really matters.
